Getting Started
First, you want to get Haloscan by going here: Haloscan.com
Once you've signed up, go to Members > Install. You will see a list of commenting system types such as: Blogger/Blogspot, Greymatter, Scribble, etc.
Click on "None of the Above / Manual". (You can also choose to display the Trackback Code and/or the Rating Stars)
Coding
You will see a page (http://haloscan.com/members/install.php) that shows many different sets of codes. The first one--labeled Step 1--is a script. Copy the code and paste it into your webpage under your "< head >" and "< / head >" section.
Copy the code labled "Step 2: Manually" and paste it where you want your comment link to appear. For every update you will need to change where it says "Name" in the code to a different word. Ex: Dog, Dog1, Dog2, etc. This will make sure that it makes a new comment page for each update instead of the same one for all of them. NOTE: There are two codes in Step 2, only use one not both!
Display
Go to Members > Templates. You will see a nice gallery displaying a variety of templates. Pick the one you want or create your own. The templates pretty much change the look of your comment page--not too confusing (at all).
If you go to Members > Settings, you can change a whole bunch of things like: Displaying either new or old comments first, timezone, and comment link text.
